Health chiefs ‘failing to keep pledges on 999 cuts’.

WELLNESS bosses who are halving the variety of paramedics in Teesdale have been accused of failing to keep their pledges.

County Durham health chiefs had actually pledged to keep residents fully notified about the controversial changes. The raft of suggested measures consisted of posters, leaflets, sales brochures, letterbox drops, radio and press advertising, media supplements and briefing sessions with the Teesdale Mercury.

Numerous of these have not taken place. One of the most vital facets being highlighted is not carrying out a mail drop ahead of public meetings.

The very first public meeting was held in St John’s Chapel on Monday and there was resounding opposition from those attending.

Further conferences take place on Monday, September 15, from 6pm to 7.30 pm in Middleton-in-Teesdale Village Hall, and Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 6pm to 7.30 pm at Barnard Castle GlaxoSports and Social Club.

Teesdale’s ambulance tracking group fears individuals’s safety may be threatened by the modifications.

Margaret Dent, from the group, said: “They published a 41-page file about their engagement strategies and about what they are going to do to inform individuals about them and they have actually done barely anything.”.

Monday’s meeting in Weardale ended with citizens revealing issues about the impact of the modifications. Barnard Castle town councillor Tom Deacon attended.

He stated: “If the people of Teesdale appear at the conferences right here in the very same numbers as they did at Weardale and take control of the conferences in the same way, we could simply stand an opportunity of protecting our paramedics.”.

Durham Dales Easington and Sedgefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is behind the plans. Instead of 2 paramedics in an ambulance in Teesdale, there would be simply one plus an emergency situation care assistant with a couple of weeks’ training.

The CCG stated an update on its consultation would be provided to Durham County Council at the end of the month.
